Camera fines in the UAE are issued automatically and linked to the car’s plate. The owner usually receives an SMS, but it is worth checking yourself — especially before renewing a registration, which requires fines to be settled.
Where to check
- Dubai: the Dubai Police app or website, with plate number, licence or traffic file number.
- Abu Dhabi: TAMM and the Abu Dhabi Police website and app.
- All emirates: the MOI UAE app of the Ministry of Interior.
Abu Dhabi: pay early, pay less
Under Abu Dhabi Police’s “Pay Early.. Gain Surely” scheme, fines paid within 60 days of the violation get a 35% discount; fines paid after 60 days but within a year get 25%. The discount does not apply to serious violations. Gulf News reported the scheme again in February 2026.
Instalments
Abu Dhabi Police offer interest-free instalments through partner banks, including Mashreq, ADIB, ADCB and First Abu Dhabi Bank. In Dubai, the RTA has offered instalment payment through a partnership with Tabby.
Rental cars
The rental company receives the fine and charges it to your card, usually with an administration fee. Ask about their policy before you drive off.
